Cigar Review: Alec Bradley American Classic Blend

The Alec Bradley Cigar Company was surprisingly erected in one of the worst times to start a cigar brand. In 1996, the cigar industry was filled to the brim with so many companies due to the cigar boom that started in the early 90's. Through years of fumbling through Alan Rubin, the owner, crashed through the market and produced the Tempus line in 2007. The rest, as they say, is history.

The Anatomy of this cigar consists of
Filler: Nicaraguan (Esteli and Condega)
Binder: Nicaraguan Jalapa
Wrapper: Honduran Connecticut Shade

Vitola: This cigar is a standard Robusto with a 50 ring gauge and 5 inches of length

Appearance: The wrapper is a light brown with an oily sheen and many visible veins scatter about the length.

Construction: Though it is seemingly oily, this cigar's main texture is toothy and has a firm pack.

Prelight: An interesting light tobacco aroma comes off the wrapper before lighting, almost a floral scent and taste from the cold draw.

First Third: Initially, the cigar has a dry light taste that I do not particularly favor and find with many Connecticut wrappers. This did slowly dissipate through out the third and transformed into a light coffee and creme taste with mild to medium body.

Second Third: The second third did not transition too much from the first but did have an odd after taste, the only way I could describe it would be freshly made french fried, I know odd.

Final Third: The finale of this cigar consisted of the same original tastes with only an additive of spicy near the end and left with a medium body.

Overall: I would describe this cigar as lighter with a bolder end but could go well with coffee after a nice breakfast. The stick is consistent in flavor and is enjoyable. A drawback to the cigar is the fact that the ash does not hold very well after nearly an inch and the burn line wavered, the only plus being that it did straighten itself out with no assistance of a lighter.

Rating: 6.5/10
